چکیده

This paper aims at an agent-based simulation of the interplay between two types of agents within a transport system: travelers, and traffic signals. For the simulation of this interplay, a computationally efficient traffic model is needed. It is thus shown how queue models can be used to model traffic flow and spill-back at signalized intersections. c © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Optimal Signal Control in Urban Road Networks with High Priority Congested Centers

Keeping the density of traffic flow and air pollution in an acceptable level and developing a good capacity for transit in the high priority areas of the city, is really a big deal in large and crowded cities. To address this problem, a new method of intersection signal optimization is presented in this paper. Based on network fundamental diagrams, an Internal–External Traffic Metering Strategy...

Congestion Pricing: A Parking Queue Model

Drivers in urban neighborhoods who patrol streets, seeking inexpensive on-street parking create a significant fraction of measured traffic congestion. The pool of drivers patrolling at any time can be modeled as a queue, where ‘queue service’ is the act of parking in a recently vacated parking space and queue discipline is SIRO – Service In Random Order. We develop a queueing model of such driv...

Stochastic Model Predictive Control for Urban Traffic Networks

This paper proposes a stochastic model predictive control (MPC) framework for traffic signal coordination and control in urban traffic networks. One of the important features of the proposed stochastic MPC model is that uncertain traffic demands and stochastic disturbances are taken into account. Aiming to effectively model the uncertainties and avoid queue spillback in traffic networks, we dev...

Analysis of Emergency Department Queue System Performance: Simulation Approach Based on Experiment Design

Background: Simulation is an appropriate technique for analyzing and evaluating the dynamic behavior of complex systems. The present study aimed to develop an integrated model using a simulation approach based on designing experiments to analyze performance of the admission queue system of patients, who referred to the emergency department of the Modarres hospital. Methods: In this descriptive...

Design Of Fuzzy Logic Traffic Controller For Isolated Intersections With Emergency Vehicle Priority System Using MATLAB Simulation

Traffic is the chief puzzle problem which every country faces because of the enhancement in number of vehicles throughout the world, especially in large urban towns. Hence the need arises for simulating and optimizing traffic control algorithms to better accommodate this increasing demand. Fuzzy optimization deals with finding the values of input parameters of a complex simulated system which r...
